May Technique Class

This past Sunday was my monthly technique class. Here are the projects we made this month. First, we did this cute matchbox using the new matchbox die for the big shot and other goodies from the Occasions Mini catalog:

Ingredients:

  • Great Friend stamp set
  • Walk in the Park Designer Series paper
  • Basic Grey and Whisper White card stock
  • Cameo Coral and Basic Grey Ink
  • 5/8" Whisper White Satin Ribbon
  • Matchbox Die & Big Shot
  • Glue Dots and Sticky Strip

Next we will be making this Mother's Day card. For this card I will be demonstrating using the sticky pages and glitter with the Big Shot as well as the new Circle Scissor Plus.

Ingredients:
  • All Holidays stamp set
  • Walk in the Park Designer Series paper
  • Kiwi Kiss, So Saffron, Baja Breeze, and Whisper White card stock
  • Sticky Pages
  • Dazzling Diamonds glitter
  • Pretties Kit
  • Scallop Circle # 2 and Beautiful Butterflies Sizzix dies
  • Big Shot
  • 5/8" So Saffron Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Circle Scissor Plus & Glass Mat
  • Tag Corner Punch
  • Glue Dots

Next I demonstrated the faux felt technique with this card. The faux felt piece is the close to cocoa piece on the bottom. I pretty much CASEd this layout from this card here. For this card I also dipped the brad from the vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware set in craft ink and then wiped with a paper towel to get the color in the grooves.

Ingredients:
  • Forest Friends and On Your Birthday stamp sets
  • Riding Hood Red, Close to Cocoa, Kiwi Kiss, and Whisper White card stock
  • Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper
  • Close to Cocoa Classic and Craft Ink
  • Chocolate Chip and Old Olive markers
  • Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware
  • Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon
  • Stampin' Pastels
  • Paper Crimper

Lastly, we did a Joy Fold card.

Ingredients:

  • Thoughts and Prayers stamp set
  • Kraft, Baja Breeze, and Whisper White card stock
  • Chocolate Chip Ink

April Demonstrator Swap

This past Sunday we had our monthly demonstrator swap. This month was my turn to pick the theme and I decided to have us make a card using any of the current hostess sets and as an added challenge, to use the hostess level 1 Pattern Pack paper. Here is my card (all the details are in this previous post):

Here is Lenore's card:

Kim did a view master card using the large scallop circle die for the big shot (see it at the top?). When it spin it the image in the window changes. Very cool!

Here is Merrigrace's card:

As usual, we had fun swapping and having coffee together. And of course talking about our upcoming trip to convention in August! It is the first convention for all of us and we can't wait! Next month is Lenore's turn to pick the swap theme. Can't wait to see what she challenges us with!

How would you like to be part of our fab demonstrator group? Whether you are a hobby demo who loves a discount or would like to earn extra money, you'll fit right in. Contact me today to see the demo discounts and benefits or with any questions you might have! You can also visit my Stampin' Up! web site for more information or to sign up online!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today I wanted to share with you the card I made for my mom for her birthday. For this, I gave my SU! stamps a rest again and used my Papertrey Ink stamps. For this card, I was inspired by one of Dawn McVey's cards. As always, her stuff is awesome. However I cannot fine the exact card on her blog anymore. Maybe is one of the the ones she had to pull from her blog for publication? I wouldn't be surprised! Anyway, here is my version. Hope mom likes it! :)

Ingredients:

  • Wishing You (Papertrey Ink)
  • Handwritten Notes (Papertrey Ink)
  • Real Red, Old Olive, Kraft, and Whisper White card stock
  • Real Red, Old Olive, and Basic Black ink
  • Real Red 5/8" grosgrain ribbon

April Swap Card - Rock Star!

Today is our April demo swap. This month it was my turn to chose the theme. I decided to go with using any of the current hostess sets, and as an added challenge, to use the hostess level 1 Pattern Pack paper. So here is my card. I have to admit, when I was browsing the gallery on Splitcoast for inspiration, I ran across a card that I really liked, so I ended up pretty much CASEing it. The other card can be seen here. I ended up changing a few things - I added a Kiwi Kiss layer between the base of the card and the Designer Paper, I used the plain Basic Grey Designer Paper from the Pattern Pack across the middle of the card (I ran it through my Big Shot with the Distressed texture plate first), I added Crystal Effects to the Rock Star star, and used one less corduroy button. But other than that, it is the same! ;0) What I like about this card is that it has lots of texture - between the specialty paper, the corduroy buttons, the embossing, and the crystal effects - this card just begs to be touched! Anyway, hope the other gals like it. Can't wait to see what they came up with. I will post everyone else's cards later for you to see!

Ingredients:
  • A Little Somethin' stamp set (Hostess Level 2)
  • Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, and Whisper White card stock
  • Rockabilly Specialty Designer Series Paper
  • Patterns Pack II Designer Series Paper (Hostess Level 1)
  • Riding Hood Red ink
  • Large Star and Star punches
  • Kiwi Kiss Corduroy Buttons
  • Crystal Effects
  • Texture Plates Kit #4 and Big Shot
  • Stampin' Dimensionals

San Jose Giants Page

Today I have another page for you from Chris' scrapbook. You can see my original post for all the details of this project, or click here to see all the pages I have posted so far. This page is for a photo of the San Jose Giants baseball team after they won the 2007 League Championships. The Giants used the photo in their 2008 program on the schedule page, it appeared in the pocket schedule, and that small square is actually a magnet that came as part of the magnetic schedule. There is also a 5 x 7 of the actual photo and for the journaling I used the "For the Record" set by Autumn Leaves and my Stampin' Up! spiral punch.

6 Month Page

Today my little Allison turned 7 months old! Tonight we will take her 7-month day photo for her scrapbook. Over the weekend I finally got her 6-month day photo printed and just added to her scrapbook yesterday! A month behind is not that bad, right? :) Anyway, here is her 6th month page. This page was made by my BFF Merrigrace. I rounded the top corners of the photo with my corner rounder punch to match the underlying cardstock mat. You can take a look at my original post for all the details on this scrapbook.

I also thought I would share a couple of recent photos taken over the weekend. The weather was so nice we got to spend some time outside! Here is Allison during our walk. She is too cool for everyone in this photo. :)

And here is Aimee getting in a good ride on her trike.

Flower Fusion Barrettes

Hi all. I hope everyone had a great weekend. It was nearly 100 degrees here yesterday and they say that it is supposed to be hotter today! Yikes! Today I have another quick project that I did over the weekend. I made some more barrettes for my girls, but this time I used Stampin' Up!s Flower Fusion felt flowers and various brads. For these, I simply layered the flowers, stuck a brad in the middle, then used a pop-up glue dot to stick it to the barrette. Easy-peasy!

Edinson Volquez Page

Today I have another page for you from Chris' scrapbook. You can see my original post for all the details of this project, or click here to see all the pages I have posted so far. This page is for a photo that was published as one of the baseball insert cards in Sports Illustrated Kids magazine. For this, I scrapped a copy of the card, a 5x7 of the photo, and then printed out a copy of the cover of the magazine. I used photo corners for the card so I wouldn't have to tape it down and damage the card. For the journaling I used the "For The Record" set by Autumn Leaves.
