Sewing with Stampin' Up!s New Designer Fabric

Today I want to share with you a project I made using Stampin' Up!s new Designer Fabric. For this project I was inspired by a similar thing I saw at Convention. It is called a pillowcase dress. I went to my local fabric store and found a pattern for this dress. I also bought some pink fabric that coordinated with Stampin' Up!s new Candy Cane Christmas fabric. You want to know that best part? This entire dress (with the exception of the pink fabric) was made entirely with Stampin' Up! products! In addition to using the Candy Cane Christmas fabric around the border of the dress, I also used my Flower Folds Die and Big Shot and cut out the smallest and second smallest flowers on the die. I cut two layers of each and stitched them together. I then added a button from the Candy Cane Big Designer Buttons assortment. I sewed the flower to a safety pin so that I could remove it before I wash the dress to keep it nice. I then added the Satin Ribbon in Pretty in Pink for the straps and I was done! So easy (and cute)!

Next, I created a matching headband to go with the dress. I simply took a plain headband and wrapped some Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon around it (using fabric glue to keep it in place). I then cut out more flowers and added a button to match the dress. I glued the flower to the headband and that's it!

And last but not least, here is my daughter Allison modeling her new dress and headband! On her birthday none the less! :) I made the dress a little big so she can wear it again next year.

Spooky Things Decor Elements

Today I have a spooky project to share with you using the new Spooky Things Decor Elements! This set of decor elements is awesome, as you get 10 different images on the sheet! I created everything you see here and still have 4 images left! I got these white foam pumpkins from my local craft store. I then simply picked out the images I wanted to use, cut them out, and then simply applied them to the pumpkins! It couldn't be easier! I also added some bling to the pumpkins by using some of the Black Flourish Designer Jewels. I only used part of the package of the jewels, and still have one left over as well!

With this super easy project, you get a lot of bang for your buck! And because the pumpkins aren't real, I will be able to display this project year after year!

I'm (wishing I was) going to Walt Disney World!

Every year Stampin' Up! offers an incentive trip to demonstrators who meet certain qualifications, which include sales and downline promotions. For 2012 the incentive trip is going to be to Walt Disney World! Those of you that know me, know that I would KILL to go on that trip! Stampin' Up! and Disney World together? That is a dream come true! But alas, earning the trip is most likely not in my future, however when I saw a contest that Stampin' Up! announced to make a Disney inspired project, I jumped at the opportunity. The prize wasn't a trip to Disney World, but instead a free stamp set, which is nothing to shake a stick at! So, at my earliest opportunity, I created my entry in the contest. On Monday I went to enter it into the contest only to see that the contest ended 5 days earlier! As usual, I was a day late and a dollar short. Needless to say I was heartbroken! Anyway, even if I didn't win the contest (or even get to participate), I still love the way my project turned out. Check it out!

This is the villain Maleficent (in dragon form) from the movie Sleeping Beauty. I freehand cut her out of a piece of 12 x 12 Basic Black card stock Her legs are cut out separately to make her 3 dimensional. I cut her wings, underbelly, and gills out of So Saffron card stock. For the wings and the gills, I used a Basic Black marker to outline them and create the web appearance. I then used my color spritzer and Basic Black marker to spritz the wings. I cut out pieces from a piece of Concord Crush Designer Paper to create the scales on her under belly and paper pieced those on. Next I added some of green Fine Supernova glitter to her spikes and toenails. I then added one of the medium size Basic Rhinestones for her eye. And last, but not least, I used some Daffodil Delight 3/8" Taffeta ribbon and some Pumpkin Pie 1/8" Taffeta ribbon to create the flames coming out of her mouth. So, what do you think? :)

My husband thought that I should create a diorama for this, so I took a piece of Soft Suede card stock and cut out a couple of big circles and then created some vines out of them. I then took my star punch and punched out a bunch of stars from some So Saffron card stock. I cut all the points off the stars to create little triangles which I used to create thorns on the vines.

And then to top it off, I borrowed my daughters Prince Phillip figure to used him to slay the dragon! Since his sword and shield where nowhere to be found, I made him new ones out of some Basic Grey card stock.

So, that is my project which missed the deadline. :( I have learned my lesson and will pay closer attention to due dates when it comes to things like this! I will still do my best to work towards earning the incentive trip, but I can't do it alone, I need your help! All orders placed through me will help me qualify for the trip. Also, if you are interested in becoming a demonstrator yourself and sign up with me, that will help me as well! If there is anything I can help you with, just let me know!

Twin Birthday Cards

OK - just to be clear, the cards twins, but the recipients are not. ;) I mentioned before that I have a lot of friends and family with birthdays in September. Well, here are two more cards for two of those birthdays! I needed to make some masculine cards for my friends Jeremy and Mike, so here is what I came up with. To save myself some time, I made the cards the same and just switched up the colors. First, this is the card I gave to Jeremy.

And here is the one I gave to Mike. I use Rich Razzleberry on this one since purple is his favorite color. :)

Cards from September Technique Class

Hi everyone! Today I would like to share with you the cards that we did at my September technique class. With the release of Stampin' Up! new Designer Fabric in the Holiday Mini Catalog, I knew that I wanted to incorporate fabric in one of my projects this month. I modeled this card after one I saw on Stampin' Connection. We first adhered the fabric to one of the new adhesive sheets and then ran it through the Big Shot with the new Tasteful Trims die. Then we had a "fabric sticker" that we simply stuck to the card!

For this next card, I was inspired by my up-upline Julie (again!). I showed everyone how to create this awesome background inking up an embossing folder with a brayer and then embossing the card stock with the Big Shot.

For this next card, I was inspired by a card from Angela Timms's blog. For this class I knew I wanted to incorporate a Halloween card to show off some of the awesome new Halloween items in the Holiday Mini Catalog (and because I love Halloween!). I also have been wanting to do the gathered ribbon technique, so I changed up Angela's card a little bit and this is what I came up with! We used the new Spider Web embossing folder on the background and then sprayed it with Shimmer Paint mixed with rubbing alcohol. It is very shimmery in real life!

And last but not least, we make a cute magnetic owl bookmark using the Two Tags die, new Magnetic Sheets, and the Owl Punch.

Check out how cute the bookmark is in the catalog! :)

And, because it is magnetic, it won't slip off!

Interested in attending my next class? It is currently scheduled for October 3rd! Contact me for all the details!
