First Daisy Meeting Projects

I recently volunteered to be my daughter Aimee's Daisy Girl Scout troop leader. This week was our first troop meeting. Since all the girls are not only new to scouting, they were also meeting each other, and me, for the first time, I thought that one of the first things that I should do with them was have them make name tags so that we could all get to know each other. I pre-cut some scallop squares out of Pacific Point card stock (the perfect Daisy blue!) using the new Scallop Squares Duo die from the Holiday Mini Catalog. I pre-cut a small piece of Whisper White, Butterflies, and some daisies. Once the girls arrived I had them write their names on the piece of white and then decorate their name tags. I used some retired Pacific Point ribbon that I had on hand to finish off the tags so they could wear them around their necks. Here is a picture of mine and Aimee's tags.

I meant to take a picture of the girls as they were making their tags, but got so busy helping them that I totally forgot!

One of the first things girls learn in Girl Scouting is how to recite the Girl Scout Promise. To help my girls learn it, I printed out a bookmark with the promise printed on it on Whisper White card stock. I then mounted that on a piece of Pacific Point card stock. I then had the girls color their bookmarks with crayons and had them take them home so that they could practice saying the promise. Here is a picture of Aimee's bookmark.

I am looking forward to being able to do lots of fun crafts with my troop. I have a great bunch of girls I think it is going to be a fun year. Next up - to think of a fun Thanksgiving project we can do at our next meeting. :)

Ellen's Workshop

A couple of weeks ago and I a workshop for my friend Ellen. She had requested that we do 2 cards, either a Halloween card, Thanksgiving card, and/or Christmas card. I choose to demonstrate a Halloween card and a Christmas card. For the Halloween card I did a similar design to what I had one for one of my past classes because I really like the layout. :)

Next here is the Christmas card we did. I really like the "vintage-y" look of this card.

And what would a workshop be without a hostess gift to thank my hostess? Not a very good workshop, that's what! ;) Since Christmas is coming, I made Ellen a set of Christmas tags using the Tags Til Christmas stamp set and packaged them up in a little cello bag.

Next I took another cello bag and filled it with Stampin' Up! salt water taffy and a couple of incentive stamps. (Sorry the picture of this one is not the greatest. I had forgotten to take a picture ahead of time and had to snap a quick one with my phone on the way out the door!)

I placed both of these goodies inside a Play Date shopping bag for her. So, now she can shop in style! :)

Spooky Wreath

Today I would like to share another Halloween project with you. This is a super simple Halloween wreath that I made using just ribbon, card stock, and the Bitty Bat punch. I bought the wreath itself at my local craft store. I then just wrapped the Basic Black Striped Grosgrain Ribbon around it and made a big bow at the end. Next I punched out lots of bats using the Bitty Bat punch and various colors of card stock. I attached the bats to the wreath using little pieces of wire (leftover from when I created my spooky house). You could also use unfolded paper clips for this. I simply attached the bat to one end of the wire using a glue dot and then wrapped the other end around the wreath. Super easy!

Last of the "Spooky Things"

After using my Spooky Things Decor Elements on the two projects posted here and here, I had 3 images left. So I looked around my house to find a place to put them. I decided to adhere the bat and spider to my front door.

Below are some close up shots of these spooky guys.

And last, but not least, I adhered the Raven image to window in my dining room. It looks like he is just perched on the window sill looking in. My dining room is where I hold all my classes so at my last class he was looking over every one. :) (Please pay not attention to all the smudges on the window. With two kids and a dog, there is not a clean window in my house! LOL!)

October Technique Class

Today I have the projects from my October Technique Class to share with you. This class was all about Halloween - my favorite!!!! :)

First we did this card using a technique I call Watercolor Ink Spread. This is super easy to do. All we did was take an Aquapainter and drip a little bit of water out on the card stock, then pick up some ink with the Aquapainter and touch it to the water on the card stock. The ink will spread and create a spooky looking background. We also used the new waffle paper to give this card some texture.

Next we make this card using the new Trick or Treat Letterpress plate for the Big Shot. I have to tell you the Letterpress plates are awesome!

Next, we did this card. This was our quick and easy card this month! :)

And last but not least we made this super cute treat holder. I got the idea for this one from another demonstrator in my upline. She did a similar project and a recent team meeting. It is made by cutting out two of the folded tags from the Two Tags die and sticking them together to create a holder. A Halloween sized Twix fit perfectly inside!

Now it is time to start planning next month's class, which will be held on November 14th and will be all about fall. Interested in joining us? Just email me and let me know!

Happy Halloween Frame

Today I have a project for you straight out of the Holiday Mini Catalog. I had some Spooky Things Decor Elements left from the pumpkins that I created (posted here), so I decided to create this piece of wall art. I simply took the Happy Halloween image and applied it to the front of the glass of a 8' x 10' frame. I then took a piece of the Nite Owl Designer Paper (the piece with the tree design on it) and cut it so that the tree would be in the bottom of my frame. I then stamped using the Dark and Deary and Baroque Motifs stamp sets to add to the already decorated paper. Once I got the look I wanted, I simply inserted the paper in the frame and hung it on the wall! Easy-peasy!

Ingredients

  • Dark and Deary stamp set
  • Baroque Motifs stamp set
  • Spooky Things Decor Elements
  • Nite Owl Designer Series Paper
  • Old Olive, Tangerine Tango, and Basic Black Classic Ink

Spooky House

I finally got my Halloween Design-a-House completed! I love the way this turned out and it was SO EASY! First I assembled the house. Just and FYI - you will need Sticky Strip for this. Then I took it outside and spray painted it black with some glossy spray paint. I also cut a piece of wire to use for the bats and spray painted that black as well. While the paint was still wet, I sprinkled on some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. While it was drying I created the Happy Halloween banner using the Dark and Deary stamp set. I also punched out the bats with the Bitty Bat punch from various sheets of the Wicked Fun Specialty Paper and card stock. I cut pieces of vellum to use in the windows and stamped those with images from both the Dark and Deary and Wicked Cool stamp sets. I added a Glimmer Brad for the doorknob and then stuck everything else on the house! Super easy, fast, and cool! I plan to get one of those electric votive candles to set inside the house. The light from the votive will shine through the vellum windows and really make it look spooky!
